Marriage License Application

    Complete the form ensuring all of your information is accurate. You must appear in-person at a El Dorado County Recorder-Clerk office to obtain your license.

Public Marriage Application

Regular (Public) License - $80

  • License is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance
  • Both parties must be present with valid photo identification and 18 years or older
  • If either party was divorced in the last 90 days, a certified copy of the final divorce decree must be presented at the time the license is issued
  • This is a public record and anyone may obtain a copy
  • At least one witness is required for the ceremony and they must sign the license

Confidential Marriage Application

Confidential License - $85

  • License is valid for 90 days from date of issuance
  • Both parties must be present with valid photo identification and 18 years or older
  • Parties must be living together as spouses
  • No witness is required
  • Copies of the record are NOT available to the public, however, the Recorder-Clerk's Office may confirm the existence of a record upon request (FC 511(c))
  • Certified copies may only be issued to one of the parties to the marriage or upon court order
